(Entry unlocked in Dec. 2008)We went camping this past weekend, which was all diapers. With another campout planned for the upcoming weekend, we don’t want to try full-time potty training until next week, but I also don’t want to lose our momentum. So, this week will be a balancing act of keeping her interested without pushing too much.
Yesterday afternoon, Ruby had about 2 hours of undie (then naked) time. She peed in the potty several times, with only one accident which happened outside in the grass (no biggie).
Today, I engineered her first poop in the potty in a very long time. She’s pretty regular, and it’s a good bet that she’ll poop within 45 minutes of breakfast. So I asked if she’d like a little undie time after breakfast and she did, of course. After a few potty visits that were just farts, she was surprised to find herself pooping. We were both very excited, and I gave her a special treat (an Otter Pop) to celebrate. Undie time happened again after lunch, in hopes of a repeat performance, to no avail.
So far, this middle-ground approach is working. When we have a decent chunk of time at home, we have “undie time” which is something Ruby enjoys and wants to do. Her bladder control seems really good at this point, and I’m optimistic that next week we can take it to the next level.
