{"id":49,"date":"2006-06-30T12:15:21","date_gmt":"2006-06-30T19:15:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mynameisruby.com\/blog\/?p=49"},"modified":"2006-06-30T12:15:53","modified_gmt":"2006-06-30T19:15:53","slug":"4-month-checkup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mynameisruby.com\/blog\/2006\/06\/4-month-checkup\/","title":{"rendered":"4 month checkup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ruby had her four-month checkup today.\u00a0 She charmed everyone with her devastating cuteness, and no big issues came up.\u00a0 She had four vaccinations, two in each leg, and cried for just a few seconds after each one.\u00a0 Ruby is awesome.<\/p>\n<p>Her vital stats:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>weight is 13 lbs, 7oz, which is right in the 50th percentile<\/li>\n<li>height is 23 inches, which is short: the 8th percentile<\/li>\n<li>head circumference is 38.5cm, which is even smaller: the 5th percentile<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The last number was a little bit of an issue, because her head size hasn&#8217;t changed since the last checkup.\u00a0 This could just be due to variance in measuring techniques, since it&#8217;s not an exact science. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/about\/major\/nhanes\/growthcharts\/clinical_charts.htm#Clin%201\">Here are the growth charts<\/a> they use for determining percentiles.\u00a0 These numbers are based on formula-fed babies (for consistency, presumably?) and breast-milk-fed babies do grow differently.<\/p>\n<p>In any event, we&#8217;re taking her in next month just to get her head remeasured to make sure it is growing.\u00a0 Since her overall weight is still progressing nicely, there&#8217;s not too much concern at this point.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ruby had her four-month checkup today.\u00a0 She charmed everyone with her devastating cuteness, and no big issues came up.\u00a0 She had four vaccinations, two in each leg, and cried for just a few seconds after each one.\u00a0 Ruby is awesome.
